• 2026-06-26. Decided: plant Valka OUT by the fence, not the Vego cactus bed. Reasoning: lavender is frost-hardy (~20°F) so it doesn't need the Vego's frost cover + heat lamp — save that protected space for the tender cacti that do. Lavender also gets big (a lavandin ~3 ft wide) and would crowd a 2-ft bed. The fence gives it full sun, airflow, and room. ⚠️ Lavender is mildly toxic to Cinder, so site it where she won't browse (and the Fence Bed dog-buffer is meant pet-safe, so keep Valka to a separate fence spot or well out of her reach). 🌿 identification

Genus is Lavandula. Species is still open: aim for the humidity-tough picks, either L. × intermedia 'Phenomenal' or L. stoechas (Spanish). Confirm off the nursery tag, not by eye.
